Corporate Safety Manager / Trainer

Alamo Group Inc. is currently recruiting for a Corporate Safety Manager/Trainer at its corporate headquarters in Seguin, TX (25 miles East of San Antonio, TX).

Under direction, the Corporate Safety Trainer/Manager will assist the Director with the development of individual company Pro Active Safety and Environmental Plans, safety training material, and general employee safety efforts to support Alamo Group companies in meeting their employee safety, manufacturing, environmental and business objectives. The Safety Trainer will coordinate and deliver associated training and other external training programs by repurposing existing safety training material or creating new material to address company-wide initiatives. The incumbent will deliver instructor led training, facilitate train the trainer sessions, conduct training program evaluations and maintain updates and revisions at various locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Additionally, the Corporate Safety Manager: 

  • In consultation with the Director, Safety and Environmental Compliance, develop, provide and oversee effective employee Safety Awareness and Training Programs which communicate various safety topics to increase employee awareness and knowledge of all hazards defined by the OSHA federal standards.
  • Assist with the development, distribution and delivery of safety training material and curriculums to assigned Alamo Group unit companies through effective implementation and utilization of adult learning platforms (i.e. video, e-learning, instructor led, classroom, webinar, train the trainer, etc.).
  • Assist companies with the selection and implementation of course curriculums, teaching aids, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia aids, computer tutorials and reference material.
  • Support, collaborate and communicate with Alamo Group divisional and unit company leadership/management to ensure Alamo Group employee safety and environmental programs are effectively implemented across the organization.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly employee injury reports based on information obtained from the unit companies.
  • Identify and/or assist with the development of monthly safety topic related programs for delivery to unit companies based on OSHA requirements, including visual media, training materials and other media support material.
  • Coordinate annual and periodic unit company safety meetings and conference calls; assist with the facilitation of meetings and associated follow-up initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee the maintenance of unit company training records; and manage electronic media and training material support.
  • Monitor OSHA and EPA federal and state regulations, trends and policy revisions; communicate updates and changes to all companies.
  • Develop, provide and oversee effective OSHA compliance and Hazard assessment inspections for the unit companies.
  • Record and edit live and virtual training as required into MP4 streaming content; assist with the development and execution of web-based multimedia learning solutions by translating training needs into interactive web based learning solutions.
  • Assist with the design, coordination and delivery of fully functioning training products incorporating sound, full motion video, text and graphics into a unified application that is interactive for end users.
  • May assist with and/or manage, schedule, coordinate and deliver classroom, hands-on and practical safety training to external Alamo Group customers throughout the US and Canada; which may include, but is not limited to, Tractor/Mower Operator Safety Training (TMOST) and Gradall, Vacall, Sweeper, and Snow Fighter Operator Safety Training.
  • May be required to transport employees for non-emergency medical attention.

The Ideal Candidate will have/be: 

  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing training curriculums; preferably with emphasis on safety related topics.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, government regulations and agency rules.
  • Working knowledge of computer based animation tools, and video/audio editing tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment operation and mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Skilled and proficient with the use of personal computers; including standard office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and the use of standard multimedia equipment necessary to effectively project and deliver training material.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to formulate and deliver ideas and material in a clear, concise and entertaining manner.
  • Able to adapt and adjust training delivery to meet the needs and learning styles of a geographically/culturally diverse audience; including executives, management, supervisors, and employees.
  • Able to successfully adapt and conduct training in venues/environments that are subject to change with little or no notice.
  • Able to build and foster effective business relationships with executives, managers, employees, vendors and other internal and external customers/clients.
  • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement options and solutions.
  • Able to effectively market or promote external training programs to customers through direct contact and cold calling.
  • Able to independently manage responsibilities and plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Able to work irregular and/or extended hours as needed to complete projects and meet training commitments.
  • Able to travel independently, both domestic and international, by common air carrier and automobile; occasionally on short notice (travel 50-70%).

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, instructional design, business, engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5 years of experience in an education related field or in the development/delivery of training with emphasis on General Industry Manufacturing, Heavy equipment operation, safety, health, environmental or related topics; preferably to blue collar workforce.
  • 2 or more years' experience required in a technical training environment that uses instructional design to create eLearning.
  • OSHA outreach trainer Authorization, or similar certification required.
  • Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste training or experience required
