EHS Coordinator (Environmental)

This position supports EHS efforts at the site focused at Environmental aspects & duties. Individual is accountable for: supporting EHS activities at his/her location(s), including: establishing EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and; ensuring documents are available in the local languages.  Position is responsible for: supporting site ISO14001 certification; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for EHS personnel; supporting actions during crises; site security, supporting the creation of a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.  

  • Facilitates process and provides technical and administrative leadership to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and MESH requirements.
  • Chooses fiscally and socially responsible methods and processes of managing natural resources,  waste & other environmental aspects.
  • Continuously identifies, assesses, and reduces/eliminates Environmental Impacts.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary certification, maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports, and maintenance of data & legal records.
  • Supports development and deployment of EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 registration, Industria Limpia, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Complies with Eaton’s ethics policy and keeps management informed of issues associated with environmental regulatory compliance mainly.
  • Provides for timely EHS training of employees.
  • Investigates incidents (including near misses, releases, and losses) and environmental incidents to determine root causes and prepares/directs corrective action plans.
  • Integrates and supports Corporate, Group, and Regional EHS initiatives designed to drive best environmental practices across Eaton.
  • Initiates opportunities to improve environmental conditions in the community as well as fostering employee wellness and off-the-job safety.
  • Support and/or participate on Continuous Improvement Activities such as: Kaizen, Ideas Programs, cost out and/or demonstrate improvements in goals year over year in our processes or practices aligned to achieve or business goals and/objectives.


  • Bachelor degree in environmental discipline or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience with an emphasis in environmental and safety program management and employee training.  Experience with sustainable operations is a plus.
  • Comprehension of corporate, industry, municipal, local state, and country environmental and safety requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial chemistry and waste control/elimination water treatment, technology and practices
  • Understanding of Metal Mechanic manufacturing technologies and processes involved CNC Lathes, Grinding & Heat Treatment Furnaces.
  • Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent).
  • Internal Auditor of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO18001
  • Fluent in English/Spanish verbal communication.
