Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist III - Industrial Hygiene

This position will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive industrial hygiene program (anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and control of noise and chemical exposures), including a comprehensive ergonomics program and coordination and completion of site EHS compliance objectives, while using engineering/scientific concepts, procedures, standards, and industry awareness to identify and resolve EHS issues for Hikma Pharmaceuticals Injectable Operations.

This position will report to the Director, Regional EHS.


  • Apply scientific, engineering principles and behavioral based systems to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance activities.
  • Complete internal and external EHS compliance reports and analyze EHS data and report trends.
  • Recommend plans for correction of gaps and provide EHS input to address change (e.g., Noise reduction and plant Management of Change processes).
  • Develop and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene program consisting of such components as hearing conservation, respiratory protection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ergonomics program.
  • Develop sampling plans and conduct personal sampling to determine potential impact from environmental factors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures associated with environmental, health and safety of pharmaceutical operations.
  • Assess exposures to hazards through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to determine health risks, regulatory compliance, and legal liabilities.
  • Work with operations management and site EHS to develop and implement risk based industrial hygiene plans for Hikma Injectable facilities located in Cherry Hill, NJ, Bedford, OH and Terrugem, Portugal.
  • Conduct occupational noise exposure studies.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments for industrial and office activities.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations and training to facility personnel.

The EHS Specialist III must have skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Professional knowledge of industrial hygiene concepts, principles, and practices which enable the employee to carry out health hazard evaluations of a wide variety of industrial worksites which are characterized by complex work processes, chemical compounds including those for which reliable standards do not exist, and complications in hazard evaluation resulting from synergistic effects.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene control criteria measures.
  • Skill in the use of the full range of industrial hygiene sampling techniques and instrumentation; skill in technical report writing.
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills.
  • Business writing (Ex: Reports, Position Papers, Proposals, etc.)
  • Risk Analysis – can perform and understand the risk assessment process and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated successful communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting and/or multiple demands, including ability to present to various level within an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical skills to identify problems; recognizes symptoms, causes, and alternate solutions and makes timely sound decisions even under risk and uncertainty.
  • Ability to travel internationally


  • 5+ years’ experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role with a strong emphasis on Industrial Hygiene programs.
  • Must have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Environmental, Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology).
  • Preferred CIH and ASP/CSP certification
