Environmental Engineering Services Manager

Position Purpose:
Responsible for managing our environmental consultants and technical staff. The current team is comprised of 5 engineers and technical professionals in 2 locations throughout the US.  This position will be the primary contact for all ERI Solutions, and its subsidiaries environmental consulting and engineering services clients.  This position will work closely with the company leadership, staff, and customers. The Environmental Engineering Services Manager will utilize their leadership skills and professional expertise to help continuously improve ERI Solutions service offerings and maintain customer compliance with all necessary regulations.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Responsible for developing annual Environmental division growth targets and implementing the plan to achieve the results.  Including development of annual budgets and business plans.
  • Develop hiring plan to meet sales goals objectives.  Work with team members to develop annual goals. Provide timely coaching and mentoring to help team members reach goals. Provide employee corrective action when needed and perform annual performance reviews for all team members.
  • Lead quote and estimating development and work with account managers to develop final presentation and submittal to customer.
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling team project meetings and updating project status reports specific to ERI Solutions’ environmental consulting services.
  • Safety – Review Job Safety Assessments and ensure that staff have proper safety equipment and supplies on hand.  Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures.  Direct and monitor safety standards in the work environment and ensure safety of staff.  Ensure that staff respond to random drug screens following required protocols.  Monitor annual drug and alcohol testing dates; ensure that employees are current for client access.  Assist Safety Manager to ensure that all employees receive and maintain required training.
  • Promote company culture and identify obstacles to success regarding customer opportunities.
  • Manage EH&S consultants’ workload and project schedules, including coordinating workload with other divisional managers to share resources as needed.

Provide technical expertise and guidance on EH&S Compliance programs, such as:

  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) development and modification
  • Above-ground Storage Tank (AST) permits and applications submission/modification
  • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit application/submission
  • Risk Management Plan (RMP) development and submission
  • Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control (SPCC) Plan development and modification
  • Facility Response Plan (FRP) development and modification
  • New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) application/submission/modification
  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Top Screen submission/modification
  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting
  • Tier II reporting
  • Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting
  • Annual Emission Inventory reporting
  • Carbon footprint analysis and reporting
  • Sustainability analysis, reporting, and consulting
  • Site specific regulatory compliance environmental assessment performance and reporting
  • Environmental specific training presentation development, improvement, implementation
  • General environmental consulting
  • Coordinate the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ERI Solutions’ standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all environmental services.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to develop and present publications for existing and new environmental related products and services.
  • Maintain consistent communication with ERI Solutions’ Sr. Vice President, Regulatory & Compliance Services concerning project status or issues, staffing needs or issues, and other internal or external concerns where assistance is necessary.
  • Remotely manage team members in multiple locations, in multiple time zones, throughout the U.S.

Qualifications - Education/Certification:           

  • Bachelor’s degree required, engineering, science, technical preferred

Required Knowledge & Experience:               

  • 10+ years professional level EH&S experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong understanding of EPA and state specific environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of general chemical/petrochemical processing and industrial manufacturing processes is preferred
  • CHMM or PE preferred

Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position:

  • Occasional site visits required, up to 75% travel required or as needed.  Ability to sit for long periods of time.  Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time. 
  • Must be able to speak and listen clearly.  Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy.
  • May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions. 
  • Requires climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, and working near electrical components.
