Cosette is headquartered in Bridgewater, NJ with facilities located in South Plainfield, NJ and Lincolnton, NC. This position is located in South Plainfield, NJ.

Position Summary:
The EHS/Facilities Lead works with site leadership ensuring proper facility operation. Responsibilities include coordinating facility services, the ability to implement and improve site safety, health, and environmental programs, policies and performance and keep facility operational and compliant.

The EHS/Facilities Lead operates under direct supervision of laboratory management with dotted line support from sister-site EHS management, and within established procedures to provide clerical, administrative and technical support to EHS, Engineering and Facility Maintenance activities. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines (OSHA, NJDEP, EPA, FDA, USDOT, NFPA, Fire Official/Inspector, etc.) and recommending ways/methods of improvement and/or efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics/logs/charts, create management reports, manage record archives, and submit reports as necessary.
  • Maintain EHS database and management system records.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate employee safety training programs and ensure training compliance.
  • Coordinate emergency response training and annual drills. Maintain emergency equipment as necessary.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance for day-to-day activities, such as: ensuring proper collection and labeling of non-hazardous, hazardous, and medical waste materials, raw material and laboratory chemical labeling, receiving and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Ensure appropriate monthly safety inspections are performed and documented.
  • Point of contact for employees to report facilities issues. Respond to and assess reports and address as needed.
  •  Coordinate 3rd party vendors, such as: Cleaning, HVAC, Electrician, Plumber, or others to ensure maintenance/repairs are conducted.
  • Perform simple preventive maintenance on various systems to ensure proper system operation. Record maintenance activities in appropriate logs.
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheet library is accurate and up to date.
  • Draft/submit appropriate regulatory reporting, such as: OSHA 300, Right-to-Know, PHMSA registration, etc.
  • Lead EHS hazard assessments and identify issues for remediation. Submit and/or present findings to management for approval.
  • Lead incident investigations to uncover root cause and create CAPA to prevent reoccurrence. Track CAPA to completion.
  • Researches, drafts, maintains applicable EHS policies, procedures and programs and ensure all documents are updated as needed/required.
  • Collaborates with staff to resolve health, safety, and ergonomic issues.
  • Collaborates with EHS staff in LNC as necessary.
  • Administers the site security and access control system.
  • Able to work unassisted in a matrix environment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, by site management.

Qualifications - Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Confident knowledge of EPA, NJ DEP, DOT, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI regulations/standards
  • Proficiency with office technology and associated equipment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely fashion

Degree:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as: Engineering, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required
  • Three to five years of related experience in a regulated laboratory or manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, medical device, or chemical preferred)

Certification:

  • OHST, ASP, CSP, ASHM, CSHM, or similar preferred
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections (bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at a time
  • Must have the physical ability/agility to handle, move, or position up to 55-gallon drums, using material handling equipment
