Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate implementation of systems supporting  Business Unit as part of an integrated EHS Management system;
  • Manages the development and implementation of EHS programs to assure compliance with all company and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinates SPA Programs, Industrial Health Sampling, collects and reports EHS data management;
  • Interfaces with division EHS contacts and advises manufacturing leadership regarding programs and practices to address areas of concern;
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers at Sylmar and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials;
  • Reviews current programs at the location and implements health and occupational medicine program including qualitative and quantitative assessments, hearing conservation and noise reduction, ergonomics, health promotion, etc.;
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies. Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented;
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions;
  • Compiles and submits accident reports and environmental reports required by regulatory agencies;
  • Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time;
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs;
  • Maintains safety and environmental files and records.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety;
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
