Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

As a key member of the Pfizer Rocky Mount EHS staff, the EHS Specialist will develop and manage a variety of EHS programs at the Pfizer Rocky Mount site.  This role will support day to day operations of all business unit operations on site, including Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.  

This role will also serve as a Project Leader, responsible for guiding the successful completion of major EHS programs and projects.   The successful candidate must be able to interpret and drive site compliance of environmental, health and safety regulations and/or corporate standards.  Management oversight includes EHS Governance and Sustainability teams as well as specific Limited Duration Teams.

 ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining EHS technical programs that meet and exceed regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Serving as an expert occupational safety and health resource to the site (EHS generalist)
  • Guiding and influencing people leaders and colleagues to ensure their success in managing and performance of safe and compliant operations.
  • Developing and delivering EHS training programs, and several site-wide EHS topics per year
  • Leading Limited Duration Teams (LDTs) responsible for driving improvements in the Rocky Mount safety performance
  • Leading or facilitating various safety related committees and element teams
  • Managing the site safety observation reporting system with EHS teammates

  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree, in environmental sciences, safety, industrial hygiene or related scientific or management discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience required. 
  • Certification in recognized EHS specialties or professional licensure also preferred.
  • Prior EH&S training experience preferred.

 

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

 Typical working hours are 8am-5pm, M-F. Weekend and overtime may be needed to meet business needs. The position is required to adhere to all safety policies and procedures along with cGMP, regulatory requirements, internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Pfizer policies and standards.
