Environmental Manager - OREGON


Founded in 1936, Roseburg Forest Products is a privately owned company and one of North America's leading producers of particleboard, medium density fiberboard and thermally fused laminates. The company owns and sustainably manages more than 600,000 acres of timberland in Oregon, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as an export wood chip terminal facility in Coos Bay, OR.   •  Managing environmental compliance at RFP's facility
  • Compiling and managing records for compliance
  • On-site visits to RFP facilities
  • Working with plant personnel to verify control measures are being incorporated and routine monitoring is being completed
  • Reporting compliance status to State and Federal agencies
  • Inventories and disposal of waste
  • Assisting State (DEQ) & Federal (EPA) regulators during plant site inspections
  • Continuing education and certification required to comply with environmental law and regulations
  • Miscellaneous sampling projects and training programs
  • Assist with environmental assessments at other RFP facilities
  • Assist with permit renewals
  • Conducting preliminary project reviews
  • Assist with project permitting
  • Successfully and timely completion of projects and reports to be reviewed by the Environmental Department
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with unexpected interruptions, and maintain a time line for completion of the projects
  • Other duties as assigned



  • A. or B.S. in Environmental, Engineering, Math, Science or related field.
  • Basic understanding of all environmental regulations that the position is accountable for
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management from plant manager to hourly employees
  • Be certified to read opacity via Method 9 and certified in Hazmat
  • Must have a general understanding of how to respond/react to spills, upsets, and deviations.
