Environmental Operations Specialist

Position Summary: The Environmental & Safety Operations Specialist will be responsible for managing day-to-day environmental compliance for utility company’s US transmission and distribution operations and providing EHS operations support across the company. Emphasis for this position is on environmental experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of EHS compliance for electrical transmission and distribution operations including Operations and Service Centers, Substations, and other locations in and around Indianapolis, IN and Dayton, OH.
• Implement changes resulting from environmental regulations.
• Review and compile EHS operating data and various reports for transmittal to government agencies and other stakeholders, including Hazardous Waste, Tier II, PCB, OSHA log.
• Complete all necessary inspections at Company facilities, including SPCC and Waste.
• Maintain and implement various environmental Plans and Procedures, including SPCC, EMS, and Waste Management.
• Implement and participate in EHS programs, including auditing.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with environmental permits, including Air, Class V, Asbestos, UST, etc.
• Coordinate response to spills and OSHA reportable incidents and serve as point of contact with regulatory agencies.
• Provide EHS training, reports, and guidance to facility personnel on a regular basis.
• Support activities and efforts around EHS-related incidents and investigations.

Education and experience required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, science-related field, or EHS-related field is required
• 2 years minimum related experience in EHS in an industrial, processing, or manufacturing environment.
• Multi-media environmental compliance and reporting experience.
• Multi-media environmental permitting and auditing experience
• Direct experience with occupational health and safety and environmental regulations.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Additional consideration given to the following experiences: Spill remediation and SPCC, DOT regulations, PCB waste disposal, Environmental License/Certifications, Waste sampling techniques and analyses, incident investigation, Experience communicating with regulators.
• Experience in Power Delivery business (preferred).


Frequent travel between Indianapolis, IN and Dayton, OH required.
