Environmental Specialist

JECSI is a mid-sized company of environmental consultants and engineers and technical, scientific, and business software application developers and engineers that provides environmental, health and safety services to large industrial companies. Our Rancho Cucamonga office is located in the Victoria Gardens town center area close to shopping, and entertainment.

JECSI has an immediate opening for a mid-level Environmental Specialist.The Environmental Specialist performs a variety of tasks in broad-spectrum areas of environmental, health & safety, and quality systems. 

Essential duties:

  •  Completing environmental reports and other technical documents and assists clients with complying with local, regional, State, and federal regulations for various programs.
  • Assisting clients with complying with local, regional, State, and federal regulations for various programs including, but not limited to, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, and TSCA.
  • Develop and manage program areas to meet regulatory reporting requirements.  Manage staff within the program areas.
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients and regulators. Work to resolve issues of potential non-compliance.
  • Conducting site visits at client facilities to collect and review data for evaluations and reports.

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field is required. 
  • 2+ years experience within a related program area (i.e. air quality, stormwater, wastewater, or hazardous waste).
  • Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving ability.
  • Ability to manage projects and budgets.
  • Ability to interact with many different types of individuals, including executives, scientists, engineers, and other business professionals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Other desirable skills:

  • Experience managing others and project teams.

Working conditions 
The job is performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. The job requires limited physical exertion, including sitting, standing, occasional light lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. The job requires operation of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, etc. The job requires following written and oral instructions, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to work with others and ability to meet deadlines.  The job requires following established policies and procedures, meeting quality and safety standards and regular attendance. The job requires making decisions based on experience and knowledge without supervision and requires responsibility for results.
