Process Safety Manager

Georgia-Pacific’s Gypsum and Industrial Plasters Divisions are seeking an engineer or technically qualified individual to join our team as Process Safety Manager in Atlanta, GA. This will be a developmental position that could lead to future leadership roles in engineering or operations management.  If you aspire to contribute in a stimulating environment and drive process engineering and safety performance for the building products industry, we are interested in learning more about you! This role provides safety leadership and direction to facilities through the application of Georgia-Pacific’s Market Based Management® (MBM®) Framework and Guiding Principles.  

Process Safety Managers create real value by ensuring risk is aggressively identified and mitigated, facility H&S strategies are consistent with company H&S and process safety visions and strategies, effective and sustainable management systems are developed and implemented. Process Safety Managers drive safety excellence and performance improvement through culture change by coaching and developing the facility based resources.  This position reports to the Division Health and Safety Manager. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Communicating company and division Process Safety Management vision, expectations, strategies, and initiatives to facility based personnel
* Ensuring each facility has prioritized (risk-based), actionable strategies and that effective metrics are utilized to monitor progress and performance
* Challenging and coaching facility based resources on current process safety culture, commitment, ownership, risk tolerance, practices, and conditions;
* Acting as a technical engineering leader in the division for gypsum manufacturing processes
* Studying and understanding the gypsum manufacturing processes
* Acting as a safety champion, leader and mentor to assure team understanding and buy-in through observation, questioning, and discussion
* Coaching, developing, and evaluating performance of facility based resources identified as compliance standard owners in areas of risk and compliance decision-making, management system development/improvement, and project management
* Developing and using risk assessment methods and tools for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards. Managing and assisting with the mitigation of identified gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities
* Assessing and improving employee ability to identify and manage risk, and to flawlessly execute critical safe work practices
* Managing processes in place to effectively meet compliance requirements
* Facilitating the development and use of effective training, change management, incident investigation, and self-assessment processes
* Coordinating efforts in process safety with all capabilities.
* Possessing a working knowledge of OSHA, PSM, and RMP – MOC, PHA, PSI, etc.   
* Seeking out and facilitating knowledge sharing opportunities (e.g., risks, best practices, common audit findings, lessons learned); foster peer communication and interaction between groups
* Managing, tracking, and reporting issues, initiatives/projects, incidents, assessments/audits, and safety performance for facility

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, or any technical field degree
* Two (2) or more years working experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting 

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
* Process Engineering, Technical or Process Safety Management experience in an industrial chemical or related facility
* Safety and Health related experience
* Experience leading culture change and developing/implementing management systems
