Senior Vice President of Global Health & Safety [SC-11627]

East/Central Time Zones

An international energy business has engaged Shirley Parsons on an exclusive search for a Senior Vice President of Global Health and Safety.

Our client constructs, acquires and operates renewable and thermal power generation assets around the world. The company has grown extremely quickly over the last 15 years, and now maintains more than 100 facilities across Europe, Africa and Latin America that include wind, solar, hydro, gas and coal facilities.

The safety culture of the business is second-to-none; there is an exceptional level of commitment from the executive leadership team, who are truly bought into a "safety first" approach to doing business. This has led to the business achieving a lost-time incident rate of just 0.03 in 2019.

The Role:

  • The Senior Vice President of Global Health and Safety will report into the global COO and work closely with the CEO to execute the global safety strategy
  • Directly responsible for a small corporate team of safety professionals working overseas, with indirect reporting lines through to the wider team of 50 safety professionals and additional safety representatives at smaller sites
  • Working as a champion for safety within the business, leading the implementation of the global safety program, adapting policies and procedures so that they are applicable for each location
  • Working to identify, measure and target Key Performance Indicators for the health and safety program, developing reports and driving changes/improvements where necessary
  • Conducting due diligence prior to the acquisition of new assets, and leading the integration of health and safety programs at these sites
  • Providing reports to the board of directors and representing the company with external regulators

The Candidate:

  • Demonstrable experience of achieving world-class safety performance within a global business
  • Experience in industrial sectors (e.g. Power Generation, Construction, Heavy Industry, Oil & Gas)
  • Successful integration of safety programs following M&A activity
  • Extremely comfortable with the use of technology, data and statistical analysis
  • Willing to work remotely (ideally East/Central time zones)
  • Able to travel globally at least 70% of the time
