We are looking for an ambitious and self-driven Site Safety Coordinator to join our team in Puyallup, WA. 
This position will manage safety programs and plant compliance requirements. The individual will work closely with plant management and will lead site safety programs, maintenance and upkeep to interface with Federal/state/local government agencies as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as primary advisor for site safety compliance.

• Conduct site’s new employee and temporary worker safety on-board training.

• Conduct timely accident/incident investigations and ensure timely reporting to plant management and corporate headquarters.

• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and compliance records of safety and health programs.

• Conduct frequent floor walks, note safety concerns, and communicate findings with designated plant leadership

• Track and ensure that all identified safety corrective actions are met in a timely fashion.

• Work with area managers to schedule and conduct required monthly awareness and authorized safety trainings. Organize and submit monthly training records to corporate.

• Schedule, lead, and be actively involved in safety committee meetings. Organize, motivate, and train the safety committee. Encourage team action to resolve safety concerns. Assign Monthly Safety Condition Walks to committee members. Develop agendas and maintain attendance and other records.

• Coach and assist with risk assessments for new or modified processes. • Organize and submit monthly safety reporting metrics to Plant Manager and the corporate safety department.

• Conduct 100% annual review and update of Site-Specific Integrated Safety Plan.

• Maintain HAZCOM requirements and SDS’s.

• Work with plant management to ensure that JSAs and LOTO procedures are completed and updated for all processes, materials, and equipment before use.

• Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplace inspections.

• Maintain recordkeeping including Safety Committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports.

• Ensure contractor safety compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Engage with OSHA Process Safety Management oversight and training.

• Maintain regular strategic communication with key stakeholders.

• Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

• Education – two-year college or technical school required

• 3 or more years’ experience in Safety position preferred

• OSHA 30 certification preferred

• Experience with computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required

• Prior experience interacting with coworkers at all levels from shop floor to Plant Managers

• Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment

• Prior leadership experience and ability to motivate employees

• Strong follow-up skills and ability to follow through with high energy

• Comfortable with presenting effectively in front of small and large groups

• Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems

• Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations

• Strong computer skills

• Full Performance Knowledge of: Applicable government safety regulations and plant specific safety policies & Ability to teach, coach, and train others using a variety of methods
